Perle or Pearl 8 Cotton Thread

This high-quality thread is double gassed and mercerised, resulting in a wonderfully smooth and lustrous surface allowing the thread to easily glide through all types of fabric and fibres. Soft and silky, 100% colourfast with a distinct twist, that doesn't fluff or kink, perle cotton is popular for many usages, including: Hand quilting, Hand embroidery, Sashiko, Wool Appliqué, Visual Mending, Smocking and Crochet. With different weights ranging from #3 (the thickest) through #5, #8 and #12 (the thinnest), many people prefer the balance of #8 for it's ability to highlight and emphasise the stitching. Because perle 8 is non divisible, meaning it can't be separated, it's perfect for teaching beginner embroidery, including children. Chenille needles are recommended for hand stitching, as they have a bigger eye for threading while remaining sharp. I personally use perle 8 in my sewing machine, I change the needle to a Schmetz Top Stitch 110/16 and pop the ball where my thread would sit and use Wonderfil Deco-Bob in the bobbin.
